V Chip is locked

Kasey Thompson Posted Jul 20, 2006

JVC Model AV27050 television. The power was interrupted and now all channels have a black box on them where you can't see the picture.

We have had the television (JVC AV27050) for several years and cannot find the user's guide. During a recent storm the power went out and now all the channels appear to have a lock on them. We have tried resetting the ratings, but they keep going back to all channels being blocked. Would appreciate help with this. Thanks.

I get a big black square box covering 90% of my picture. This is a function of the closed caption circuit available for future use called text mode. Simply press close the caption button on the TV remote until the square disappears. If your TV doesn't have the closed caption button on the remote you will need to do the following: Bring up the menu and highlight closed caption. Press the Volume + button to access this menu. When you enter this menu it will say Mode Text. Press the Volume + button until it says Mode Off. Then press the Channel up“ button and highlight Finish. Then press the Volume + button to save your settings. Hawk
