"Lens Cap" warning on sceen even though lens cap off...no picture, black screen

I cant get any picture in either the view finder or flip out screen. It says "lens cap" and a black screen. It does let me scroll through menu. I have replaced battery and flipped through manual and auto modes, no luck. any advise? Thanks
