mini dv cam compared to mini dv

Is picture quality, resolution etc. that superior and noticeable with the mini dvcam over mini dv??? Have camera that shoots both, would like to mainly shoot mini dv.........BUT need a vcr deck and am trying to decide between sony dsr 11 (does both) and the walkman video gdv1000 (only mini dv) appreciate any input michael
