A Horizontal white line problem happened all of a sudden on my Sony KV 2185 MT Multi System TV. Why? Any suggestions?

This TV is roughly 12 years old. It had been working fine until a solid horizontal line started to appear on the monitor. It sometimes switches back to the image but most of the time it stays on white line, no image. Sound is still OK. Any suggestions as to what I should do? I presume it is not worth to bring it for repair, but I do not want to depart with this TV beause of its multi-system (PAL-NTSC) capability. I would appreciate your recommendations. Note: It had not been to any repair shop before.
