Turntable buzz

Bill Posted Sep 09, 2006

Turntable buzz increases as I move tonearm across the record toward the spindle. Turntable is grounded.

Hi-- I am having a real hard time. I just replaced a cartridge on my Luxman PD 272 turntable and now I hear this faint buzzing. Turntable is grounded. Never had this problem before. It's very faint and only audible when headphone volume is cranked super loud. Here's an interesting thing about this sound--it's non existant until I start to move the tone arm over and above the record surface. Could the cartridge be picking up motor noise? I am baffled by this! The cartridge is a Grado Gold. Could it be a defective cartridge? Thank you all for reading this post. Any help or encouragement greatly appreciated! --Bill Rue willrue@aol.com
