Economics of repair versus repair NUTONE IMA 303

The quality of sound is poor at all stations. I am assuming from this that the problem is in the master unit. Is this a common problem in a unit (IMA 303)of this age installed in 1983. If my guessenosis is correct I am trying to determine the ecomomics of repair versus replacement considering the added features in the current update versions available. Any input would be sincerely appreciated. Tony
