Re[4]: Help! Panasonic PV-550D Dew Sensor location."dew detected"

David Schuster Posted Dec 08, 2006, in response to:ayman

I recently pulled camera out after being stored indoors for a few months and it says 'dew detected'. What is the solution or does anyone know what this means exactly? Thanks!

My eight month video camera now has the same problem. I found this information. I don't know if it will work, but I'll try. Note the silica gel solution, I'll try that later. I hope it will work. Dew Detected problem - possible fix? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We also have this video camera and received the same error message in April 2005. I contacted Panasonic and her advice was to remove the tape, use a hair dryer (low setting) for about 5 minutes and then leave it opened overnight. This did not work. She then suggested sending it in for service. However, we put the camera in a plastic bag with the tape door open and inserted a silica gel bag (that you find in shoe boxes). We closed the plastic bag and left it overnight. The next morning, the video camera was working! We have recorded and played a tape and it seems to be ok!! This was NOT a suggestion by Panasonic. It was just something my husband tried and ta-da, it is now working. Hope it works for you, too.
