Unit will not power on

A parent borrowed the camcorder from our youth center. Now it does not turn on. She said the battery was dead so she charged it. We will not have money to get a new one or take this to a shop. I want to check fuses. How do I locate them? Please help Christmas will be here soon and we are going to film the gift giveaway to our needy families.
