Comparison of JVC GZ-MC200 & GZ-MC500 Video Cameras

Hello Stacy, I am the happy owner of a JVC GZ-MC200 Video Camera and am thinking of upgrading to the GZ-MC500 to get the better resolution & lens. I note that there are still lots of new GZ-MC500 cameras on sale in the US. Do these record / playback in a fashion limited to NTSC or can they easily be re-adjusted to record / playback in PAL ? ( Am I missing the point totally here - is the MPEG2 recording format used totally independent of the PAL/NTSC divide ? ) If you have time I would also appreciate a knowledgable comparison of the strengths & weaknesses of the GZ-MC500 vs the GZ-MC200, please.
