Check CD message on bonneville cd player

My 01 pontiac bonneville is having problems playing CD's. the message "check cd" comes up when I put a cd in, but no error code, just this message. I've tried about a dozen different CD's and the message is always the same.Any ideas?? Please let me know, Thank You!
