Necessary to turn off video camera?

Saul Shiffman Posted Apr 01, 2007

I have reason to leave a video camera on all the time. Will this hurt anything? Is it necessary to turn off when not in use?

We are using a video camera in a laboratory experiment. Camera is tripod-mouinted and plugged in. We'd like to leave it on so that (a) it will not lose transient settings and (b) won't be touched and therefore possibly moved. Will this hurt anything? Would it make any difference if we convered lens so litt;e/no light was coming in? Thanks for any insights
