I had the same camera and the same problem.....There is a sensor in there that goes bad.....To my knowledge, JVC is only going to repair them until (I believe) July 1st unless they have updated it.....Hope this helps.

Its actually October 1st, and anyone wishing to take advantage of the special free repair programme has to be the original owner of the camcorder and be able to show proof of this fact.
