Error 04 means dirty or defective disk (according to the manual), I have the same problem that the player takes the cd and spins it but then stops and after a few seconds it beeps. I have no idea how to fix it, but it is not due to a dirty disk. I have no idea on how to fix it but you can get a $72.20 replacement from sony with exchange.I hope that this helps.
