Need help diagnosing picture problem on Sony rear projection TV

The screen is showing blurry double images on the right and left sides and the color is green and red. The middle of the screen is okay. What could the problem be? The set is six years old and I would like to repair it as long as it isn't too costly. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
