Sony DSC-S90 motor stopped running

Allie J. Posted Jul 31, 2007

The motors and gears work when I turn on the camera but the lens cannot open.

Hey, I see that my problem has come up before but I don't see many replies to those posts... a few days ago I went to turn on my camera. The word "Access" came on the screen, and I heard the motors and the gears trying to work but the lens didn't open and then it finally said "Power off and on," which of course didn't fix the problem. I called Sony, and they said I can send it to them for a flat fee of $107 plus shipping. I'm debating if there is anything I can do on my own to fix the problem and if not, is it worth it to send to Sony? I also just heard that Sony may give you a replacement or repaired camera that is secondhand and different from the one you give them if your camera takes too much work to fix. Is this true? Thanks to anyone who replies.
