GR-SXM260U Record Problems

I have a JVC GR-SXM260U, and like many others here I went to use my camera and now there is problems with it. I get the lens cap error that goes away after a little while. It plays fine but there is no image in the viewfinder in auto or manual mode, just a half red, half black screen with vertical lines. It's pretty new and hardly used, I'd hate to think of it as wasted money! Thank You for your help.
