JVC GR-DX77u Green Lines through Playback

B P Posted Sep 18, 2007

I recently travelled with this camcorder. Now when I try to play back mini dv - it has solid green lines cutting through the picture.

Can you tell me what the problem might be? This camera is only about three years old and has only actually recorded about 30 hours (max) of footage. Now it still records fine, but when I play the tapes back in it either to the computer or the TV, I get thick green bars going through the picture. The folks at the store say it is a sensor problem and is more expensive to fix than buying a new camera. Thing is, this is the best camcorder I've ever owned. Any help who be greatly appreciated. Thanks, BP

Your model has the potential to develop the lens cap problem, which by the way if it is requires immediate action, as there is not much time left to obtain the free repair!, however to exclude the lens cap problem if when the camcorder is in camera mode ready to shoot some video and the image of what the lens is pointing at can clearly be seen, then its inclined to indicate that the video heads just require cleaning. Info on this can only be sent to a DIRECT e-mail address as it contains a JPEG illustration, this one by clicking on my RED link (and only on!) and NOT withholding your email address, as this (only seen by myself) is only used for reply purposes.
