This same problem just started happening to me, on a JVC AV 32770. It must be an unfortunate flaw with the on/off switching in this vintage of JVCs. That's too bad, because the replacement that will fit into my entertainment center almost has to be an LCD - these LCDs just don't play standard resolution video very well, even the best ones.
