JVC-XL-R5000 - Trouble Recording CD's

Betty Ashcraft Posted Dec 21, 2007

Unable to record CD's. Receive error mesages. Have followed instructions in manual.

I own a JVC-XL-R5000BK. I have been attempting to follow the instructions on page 18 in the manual for “Manual Recording” with no success. I first turn the unit on and insert a music CD in the CD1 tray. I then insert a recordable CD-R into the CDR Disk Tray per instruction #1 (The unit then apparently tries to ‘read’ the recordable CD-R displaying the message ‘CDR READ DISC’, then after a minute or so displays the message ‘CDR DISC NG’). I then press REC• to put the CDR in record pause mode per instruction #2, which results in the message ‘NO R/RW DISC’. Any further attempt to record (i.e. Pressing the PLAY> button in accordance with instruction #6) results in the same ‘NO R/RW DISK’ message. I get the same ‘NO R/RW DISK” message when trying “Synchronized Recording of 3-CD Changer Playback” on page 20 also. The CD-R’s which I am using are brand new “compact disc Digital Audio Recordable For Consumer” type. Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

this maybe too late to help....but make sure the cdr's u r using r 4 "music". that made all the difference in the world 4 me when i had that same problem. some r advertised and sold as "data" and others are "music". buy some music ones and it should work fine...!
