I have had similar problems with my 35" Trinitron. Used to be able to turn it on and off and the picture would come back. Now I have had to smack the back of the set while it's off, then power it on and the picture will come back. The note about the sweep circuit sounds interesting because the screen sometimes slides to a thin line then expands, then goes off.
