this is a factory recall got jvc.com - service support - customer notification they will repair it but you have to ship the unit to them

A special "free" repair offer (for original purchasers only!) that has been running for about the last 30 months or so expired at the end of Dec 2007, so unless you can plead your case to JVC there is no option but to pay out for the repair. (I believe the CCD assembly is obtainable in the US at approx $90, this from an independent supplier, not JVC)
