Jvc cd receiver Model No KD-SX 770 isn't working after it was installed

Hook up wires as stated. Model No. KD-SX770 refused to work.The only fuction, DISP, when pressed causes the LED face to light up and then goes off. No other keys work (blank screen). Cd disc is accepted when placed in the slot. yet there is no audio.
