Problems Recording with Battery

My Sony V200E records a good picture with the power adapter but will not record a picture with a good battery. With a battery in everything still works OK and it records but just with lines - no picture. I plug the power adapter back in and it records perfectly. I have tried different good batteries to no avail. Can anyone help please.
