JVC TV model AV27120 (Aug 2000) 27" power loss without explaination.

Last night my JVC tv was on when the screen suddenly blacked out (with a big white line through the middle vertically), and then shut off. The "timer" light next to the power light was blinking, but I have the tv alarm set for the morning. Neither the power button on the tv or the remote did anything. I unplugged the tv, and plugged it back in and it worked fine -cam on without turning the power on. But then it shut off again within minutes. I tried turning off the alarm, setting the sleep timer, and various other things. Each time I unplugged it and plugged it back it, it stayed on for a shorter period. I finally gave up. The picture tube and fuse obliously work fine, as I get a picture, but I have no idea what else it could be. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
