Sony trinitron color TV KV-35v65 Manufactured Dec.98 in Pennsylvania

Dennis Posted Apr 02, 2008

Picture goes blank after a few minutes.

Purchased in 2000, started problem after 6 years. When turning on, picture comes on for a few minutes then begins to dissapear from the bottom up, then goes blank. It does have sound but no picture. After reading all these comments I find out that it could be a fuse, the voltage regulator, power supply, the humidity cut off, dust, standby mode circuit, sweep circuit, the color adjusting screw on the back of the tube, picture tube, video IC, or a bad circuit board. Which one of these is causing my problem? I also have not heard anyone CAUTION anyone about becoming electrocuted by messing around inside the back of the TV. Hasen't anyone heard of people dying because they touched the back of the TV INSIDE not having a clue about what they are doing and the DANGERS of what might happen! Please do not touch anything INSIDE the back of your TVs! WARNING! WARNING! Unless you understand the DANGERS and what NOT to do, don' touch anything inside! I agree the TV should last longer before it devolopes any problems, but that is how most companies now days make more money, mostly by selling parts, just like the automotive industry! Most sophisticated companies know exactly the estimated life span of a part and calculate how much money they can make on it, etc. But dont just blame Sony they all seem to do it and to be fair some do not know what problems may devolope until they get many consumer complaints. I agree that Sony should support and stand behind their products, after all, we do pay intitailly more for it then it is really worth, they can at least give us a break on parts. Yes, I would like to know exactly what is causing my problem, but how can I know without getting it checked or someone out there helping me to narrow down the cause by doing a few simple tests? Most computers now days are antiquated after a just a few years and with the entire US going 100% digital very shortly it would probably be best just to buy a HD TV even if just a small one to start out with untill they perfect it after a few years. Not sure yet what to do but if anyone could help me confirm what the problem is it would be much appreciated. Dont know if I will buy Sony Tvs again or not, it sounds like too many people are having too many similar problems. There is one thing I would be very concerned about from all maunufactures and that is WHAT WILL WE DO WITH PRODUCTS THAT DON"T LAST VERY LONG AND ALL OF THESE BAD TVs THAT COST TOO MUCH TO FIX?!?! Looks like manufactures are devolping a greater environmental land fill problem by not making products that last a long time! ...and where do all of the bad parts go?
