Hello, I have the same model of your camcorder.You might have the lens caps on.Check, it should say JVC on it with a string hanging from it.If not also if you have something blocking the screen it will say that.Little mistakes can turn into big problems.If that is not it.Return the receipt and camcorder back to the store you purchased it at, and try getting a new one.
