JVC CD player shut down

JVC protect mode shutdown

My JVC UX G-50 5CD player goes into a protect mode by itself and comes on briefly and then shuts down. I opened the case and cycled power and it came back to life. But after a use or two the problem returned. Any soluton except the trash can?
