E-03 is telling you that the cassette take up spindle is not turning properly, this in most cases being caused by the actual cassette being used. (sticking) If trying another tape does not cure it, then the drive spindle could be slipping, this likely if Maxell or TDK tapes have been used which aren't advisable to be used in JVC devices, albeit they are OK in other brands.
