Problem playing back tapes on Panasonic NV-MX8. Also issue with intermittent autofocus

Hi all, I'd be grateful for some ideas please. I have a Panasonic NV-MX8 which won't playback tapes (either just recorded or past recorded) it was an intermittent problem but now seems permanent. I don't use it very often and has been stuck in my desk drawer. I haven't tried anything yet but I did pay £129 about 18 months ago to have it fixed ... I won't be doing that again. Another issue is that seconds after starting to record, the autofocus clicks and it is then out of focus. Thanks in advance. Best regards Chris
