I can't figure out what is wrong with my JVC video camera?

I purchased my JVC video camera around chritmas 8 months ago. But About 2 months ago my video camera started to not work. I lost my manual so i don't know what to do? Whenever I turn it on to record it won't turn on unless i turn it to memory, then it turns on so i flip it back to video. Bbut on memory and video it says remove and reattach battery or DC plug and unit in safegaurd mode. And i've tried removing and reattching my battery and it still doesn't work, what do I doI can't take videos or pics or even wwatch my old videos???
