E-02 is a warning that either the cassette you are using is faulty, or that a fault has developed in the cassette spindle drive system. These type of problems car arise if non JVC brand tapes have been used, TDK and Maxell "not" recommended to be used in JVC camcorders. (should this apply!) JVC - Panasonic or Fuji are the only safe brands to use, albeit that other brands are usually OK in other makes of camcorders.
