If the camcorder is effectively dead with the LCD not lighting up then that indicates that one of the internal fuses has blown, if however the LCD does light up then but the mechanism doesnt load the tape when the door is pushed in then it can be various things, starting from the simplest, that being the contacts at the inside top of the tape compartment which senses a tape is in the holder. On the subject of fuses, these are soldered in specials and requires an element of case / PCB dismantling for access, these only suspect if the camcorder doesnt work with the mains power supply either.
