Variable sound

Is there an Automatic Gain Control, (agc) for the JVC TV? I can not understand why part of the sound of a picture I am viewing blasts me out of my seat. If I turn down the volume I am not able to hear the dialogue of the movie. I understand that there is a service menu that in used by service technician.
