Need Help diagnosing what it wrong with my Sony TV

I have a 8 year old Sony 32 in TV. It works great when its on but the problem is to get it going it takes about 30 turns at the power button. It just keeps kicking out until it finally catches. The picture is crystal clear when its on, and it would be hard to beat even with a new one. A service guy told me it could be the power supply. Can you help? Thanks Rick
