This problem is caused by a manufacturing defect and which a "free" repair is
on offer from JVC, this being conditional to you having the original
packaging or the warranty which was contained therein. (or original purchase receipt)
As you appear to be in the US (or Canada) contact the JVC customer services
appropriate to wherever you may be located, however although I have much
fuller details on this unfortunately they cannot be pasted onto this page as
they have to be sent to a "direct" e-mail address (you having restricted
yours!) this is due to them being lengthy, and also for the convenience of the
recipient contain various JVC contact web links.
PLEASE NOTE! speed is of the essence, as the special "free" repair offer expires at the end of this month, this having been extended twice already since it was first put in operation approximately 30 months ago.
