JVC 35 Inch AV35BP6 Remote Sensitivity Problem

Steve Posted Dec 24, 2008

Remote will only work from about two feet away...

I have a JVC 35 inch AV35BP6. It has served me well for 12 years, and it still has a great picture. The problem I am having with it is the TV will not pick up the remote commands from more than 2 feet away. (yes the remote has fresh batteries, and I have tried different remotes) I have taken the back off of the TV and removed all the dust, and I touched up the solder connections on the IR receiver. Still, no luck. I had this problem for a few months, several years ago, when the TV was only about a year old. I can't remember if I did anything, or if the problem just went away on its own. Anyway, it has been like this for several months now. Suggestions?

Problem solved! I just replaced the IR Receiver Module that was mounted on the TV's power button board, and it is back to functioning properly. I was able to replace it with a 38khz module from Radio Shack. Although the pin-out and mounting was different, I was able to modify it to fit. Nice to have the remote working from across the room again!
