Really impossible to answer with any accuracy, as either the charger itself could be faulty or alternatively the camcorders power input socket could have developed a fault on its internal switching contacts. If when you refer to the "internal" battery and you are meaning inside the case, then if its faulty you will keep losing the time, or even not be able to set it in the first place. You really require a voltmeter to check the chargers output, or even with the "careful" use of a small 12 volt bulb.
