To the best of my knowledge I dont believe its possible to do that without the remote, as looking at the technical manual of a comparable set the menu screen cannot be accessed except from the remote.

If you enter the display screen you should be able to switch it off from there, as it goes through the order of "display - time - channel - off", it may even go off if you just press exit.
