This problem is caused by a manufacturing defect and which a "free" repair is on offer by JVC, this being conditional on you having the original packaging or the warranty which was contained therein. However as you have not stated the actual make or model of the camcorder in question its not possible to give fuller details, as although its assumed that you are referring to a JVC device other brands can also suffer from this fault due to the nature and actual cause of the problem.
