sony pd150- records but playback mode shows only blue screen

Last time I used my video camera...long ago...it worked great. I just pulled it out, charged it, new tape...recorded stuff...and then when I wanted to play it back, all that appeared on the screen was blue...that's it!!! Any help out there? Please tell me it's pilot error?!? Thanks!
