HELP!

i have a 1997 RCA colortrak plus,it was given to us for free, but it doesn't have a remote. the first night we got home & plugged in,the cable came thru just fine,turn it off for the night & the next day no channels came in, i need help auto-programming it.picture,color,& sound was all great,i'm sad:( can anyone help?! the guy said sometimes the channels won't come in. y?
