sudden fault on Sony DCR HC40E

I had a fault code C31 23 on my Sony handy cam DCR-HC4OE since 6/6/09, I have tried different tapes and still the fault was displaying. This morning 11/6/09 I read in your forum about banging the camera few time, it worked after few attampts. Thanks for all of you guys.
