I was out of the house when my wife tried to turn off the TV, so I'm repeating what she explained.
The remote would not turn the set off, when she hit the remote power button, the tv would cycle off and then immediately back on again (the relay clicked twice - on the way off, then back on).
Being practical, she tried the power switch on the TV with the same result. The set cycled off and then immediately on again (relay clicks twice). It did this several times.
So, she unplugged the set's power bar as she was going to be out of the house for several days.
When I got back 2 days later, and plugged the power bar in the set would not turn on from the remote or the set's power switch. It seems completely dead (other devices like the VCR are fine, plugged into the power bar). I would have suspected the capacitor problem mentioned elsewhere (C926), except for the odd symptoms before the set died.
I couldn't find any reference to a circuit breaker on the tv, I suspect a sticky power relay is the problem. At 11 year old, I'm inclined now to replace the tv with an LCD model
Any other suggestions,
thanks,
Dan.
