What is the best way to download sony harddrive onto pc.

I have new sony handycam hdd dcr sr37 hard disk drive, it comes with software to download onto computer and very basic edit, I want better edit software, so I bought Coral studio, which I like but it do not recongize sony,, so I want to download the movie onto my pc direct to it can be edit onto corel edit studio, why is that not working. (my computer do recongize the photos from the sony handycam no problem). so what do I need?
