how to fix it

i have a JVC MODEL AV-28WX1EK,i switched it on and got a compressed picture on screen bit like you hook up a tv in a caravan and connect to battery picture gets smaller as battery gets drained only way to discribe it,whats wrong with it and what needs replaced or should i scrap it.
