r.e. Sony Trinitron power failure - model KV-32HS510 - 10/21/2009

I just received a free high def TV because they said the power button was out and did not want to bother with it, though it cost them around $2,000. Like many others, the TV worked fine for me, then would not turn on later, though the stand by light blinked, and I could hear the TV trying to click on. I tried the hair dryer trick - blowing hot air on the right back side (as you face it) of the TV through the air vent for about three minutes, where the sound of the TV trying to come on came from, and... voila! The TV turned right back on! It had some light discoloration on the sides at first, possibly from the hair dryer magnetizing the screen, until I simply turned off the TV, waited a few minutes and turned it on again - did this twice, and the screen is perfect! It's hard to believe I have a killer, expensive TV for free. Cheers to the guy who posted the hair dryer trick - brilliant!
