Well, I took off the back of tv, found the focus knob, and sure enough, that was the problem and fixed it. Thank-you very much. It was right where you said it was and looked exactly the way you described it. It was easy to fogure out which knob of the two because it was the less dusty one of course. Thank-you again for your help. Made a big difference.

    Thanks for the update on the situation Dan, and pleased to read that you have solved the problem OK as I fully appreciate the predicament you were in, as although I do realise that most people prefer to withhold their e-mail address for obvious reasons (likewise my own!) as you will appreciate the snag with doing that is that it makes it impossible to send instructions that relies on having the visual aspect attached for illustration purposes. However in your case that wasn't really necessary anyway!
