Question about video equipment from the 80's-90's.

I need some info on video/sound equipment from the 80's-90's that would've been low-budget but professional enough to make a documentary film--what kind of cameras would've been used back then, what kind of sound equipment, so on. If anyone has any info, I'd appreciate it.
