Homehow do I exit safeguard mode? How expensive is this repair? JVC GR-D290U suddenly displays safeguard or safe mode, "eject and reinsert tape" are the instructions. I do that repeatedly and now, the tapes won't play. The camera powers up, but the message won't go away and the tapes won't play. Prior this the camera worked great. Can anyone help?

A non technical long shot measure which works with some camcorders is to jolt the base of the camcorder onto something of a non solid nature like for example the palm of your hand, as this type of action can in many cases move the mechanism just enough to trigger a sensor contact that's not quite fully activated. (a common fault with D... models)
