If this green dot is evident in the LCD when the camcorder is just switched on but not necessarily in the recording mode, ie:- whereby whatever the lens is pointing at can be seen on the LCD, then its inclined to suggest that the CCD has possibly developed a fault, however if this doesnt apply then this very unusual fault really requires a proper investigation to determine exactly where the problem is originating from.
